It is time for alterations and you have a new set of details to think about…bra, panties, bustier, shaper, shoes…the list really goes on and on. Where do you ever begin looking for these bra type items…the department stores…in the bra departments?!? The answer is a loud, resounding NO! We have done the leg work for you, we have worn several styles ourselves (its important to test drive!), and we have created an edited collection of PRETTY & THE REAL DEAL undergarments that are both functional and comfortable…in other words they meet the pretty category and they give the right lift…if you know what we mean!
There are several ways “to wear” these undergarments. We prefer to sew them into the dress so nothing shifts as you dance the night away. After the wedding, make a few snips on some of the threads connecting the bra to the gown and you have a great undergarment to wear under a sun dress and special occasion dress in the future.
Mai, of Mai’s Alterations, is both a master seamstress as well as a bra expert. One of the first steps in the alteration/gown fitting process is to be fitted for an undergarment that works with your gown. This is when you will workshop the different bra styles and settle on the best available option.
Brides often ask, “Can I just sew in cups?” The answer is yes, however we have been told many times, the undergarment is 50% of the overall fit of the gown. We agree! 9 out of 10 times, brides choose some type of undergarment. Don’t fret, we carry cups and they are certainly an option. Now, if you want to use stick-ons, adhesives or petals, you will want to bring those with you!
